Why should children do yoga?
I have been teaching in schools for the last 18 years, starting off as an English teacher in Secondary schools, and I have worked as a year 5/6 teacher alongside being the SENCo.
Being with children ever day, I have a great understanding of what works for children, and yoga certainly works!
Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic capacity in children. Yoga and mindfulness offer psychological benefits for children as well. A growing body of research has already shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behaviour, and can even reduce anxiety and stress in children.
I have seen these all in action in my own children's yoga classes!
Yoga is perfect for all children as it is non-competitive, non-judgemental, and can be taken at a pace which works for them.
My training with both Susannah Hoffman (Triyoga, London) and Helen Clare (Classyoga) has ensured that my classes focus on authentic yoga poses, breath-work and meditation which can support with bringing a sense of calm, confidence, flexibility and strength.

Six week courses starting W/C 12th September
Mini Yogis (Years R, 1 and 2)
3.15pm Monday 12th September to Monday 17th October
Junior Yogis (Year 3-6)
3.15pm Wednesday 14th September to Wednesday 19th October

What does the course cost?
£20 for the six week course.
What does my child need to wear?

Comfortable clothing, preferably layers as they may get cool during savasana.
What should my child bring?

A blanket to snuggle under

A mat if you would prefer your child to use their own

And of course, their Phillip yoga bear to cuddle up to!
Can I have sibling discount?
Yes, absolutely! Please email me at yoga@atwestcottage to discuss this before booking.
What are you doing to keep the children COVID safe should this reoccur?
After every class, there is at least a 15 minute break to endure all mats are wiped down and the area cleaned. Face masks will be worn at drop off and pick up, and windows will be open to ensure correct air flow.
I have a full DBS, First Aid qualification, and have up to date safeguarding training.

All mini and junior yogis who book, receive a complimentary Phillip the Yoga Bear to join them in class!
